Rob van Bommel

Rob's passion for paddlesports is matched by his business acumen. His career in paddlesports began in the Netherlands where Rob was a member of the canoe slalom national team. Since then he has paddled whitewater and guided trips on some of the world's most impressive rivers.

It was only natural that Rob gravitated to the outdoor industry where he held marketing posts at such companies as Patagonia and The North Face. Moving on in his career, Rob became a business and management consultant with two of the worlds most highly regarded multinational corporations, ING where he rose to the position of member of the Board of Directors for the Czech Republic and Halifax Bank of Scotland (Clerical Medical Insurance) where he was a member of the Executive Committee for Continental Europe.

Rob has been praised by his clients and colleagues for his results-oriented approach to help businesses in diverse industry sectors tackle complex situations. These same attributes have benefitted Rob as he develops Sportscene. As the founder of Sportscene, Rob is immersed in paddlesports on and off the water. He is still paddling slalom, downriver and ocean while also pursuing his self-admitted Holy Grail of mastering the “perfect stroke” in sprint.
